“The idea for True Rebels came to me at the end of 2020. I wanted to make a Footwork/Jungle/160 track that paid homage to early Detroit Techno pioneers such as Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson and Juan Atkins. The piano riff came first and then the tune practically wrote itself. For the B-Side I made a couple of tracks that didn't make the grade and then came up with a 16 bar loop that I thought was ok. I struggled to think of a way to make it more interesting and then found a tune in my collection with the scat loop that I used to complete it. Ironically the B-Side turned out to be the better track so that is the title of the EP!
Regarding my decision to donate the profits to charity, my girlfriend and I have benefited greatly from the support of the people at Mind (www.mind.org.uk) over the years and I want to give something back to an organization that has changed our lives for the better, forever. Thanks to everyone supporting me and my music, I hope you enjoy the tunes.”
